π» Strings family
Double Bass
π How it makes sound
The biggest string instrument. Players stand or sit on a tall stool and use a bow, or pluck it for jazz.
πΌ Range and clef
Open strings E, A, D, G, the lowest of the strings. Reads bass clef, and sounds an octave lower than written.
π¨ Its timbre colour
Deep and rumbly, like a friendly elephant.
Timbre is the "colour" of a sound, the idea from Lesson 0. A violin and a flute can play the same note, but you can still tell them apart!

π‘ Fun fact
A double bass is often taller than the person playing it!
