🎺 Brass family
French Horn
🔊 How it makes sound
Lips buzz into a small mouthpiece. Valves send air through a long coiled tube. The player's hand sits inside the bell.
🎼 Range and clef
About three and a half octaves. Reads treble and bass clef, and is a transposing instrument in F.
🎨 Its timbre colour
Round and noble, like a call echoing across mountains.
Timbre is the "colour" of a sound, the idea from Lesson 0. A violin and a flute can play the same note, but you can still tell them apart!
